Matraca was born in the Nashville area. Her mother Icie was involved in the music industry as a backup singer. Her mother married Ronald Berg (originally of Cushing, Wisconsin) and lived in the Indianapolis, Indiana area. Around the time of high school graduation, Matraca moved back to the Nashville area. Icie passed away in 1984. Ron has remarried.
You may have detected from her songs that there was a former marriage. I don't know the name of her "ex" that she told to "Walk On". Matraca is now married to Jeff Hannah, a member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. They live near Nashville.
